I. Convention updates: event and hotel registration forms are in the MERC, Greenspan moved the 1st year anatomy final to Wed. April 8th for those choosing to go, 3rd year therapy test will not be moved (3rd years would have to come back early to take the test)
II. Pharmfest updates: had excellent participation at meeting, already assigned captains, currently still looking for sponsors, can hopefully hold pharmfest under one of the pavilions in bishop park
III. Fundraising: currently selling hoodies, will not do a t-shirt for VIP day
IV. Committee budgets: each committee has been allotted $50 each,
V. Gala: will cost approximately $11,200 –deposit due for GA Center next week. First meeting will be soon where committees will be established. Start planning schedule and deadlines
VI. VIP day: February 18th, plan to carpool. Breakfast will be 7:30-8, some will meet at spaghetti factory for lunch. Prepare ahead of time: know your representatives and house bills up for debate. A reminder will be sent out for Wednesday
VII. Spring Membership drive: around spring break will have a raffle for free membership into APhA for outgoing 3rd years
VIII. Website: Still need info. From Immunizations committee and Health and Wellness committee
IX. Patient Counseling Competition: will change this year- will start early. Have begun plans for a tentative schedule of events for the fall. This year we will have a committee to help plan and more professors will be involved. Competition will include a second round competition as well (preliminary and final rounds). May be able to use a webcam for Augusta.
X. Heartburn committee: plans to set up at Tate Center on Friday February 13 to hand out free samples
XI. Diabetes Committee: March 21st is the Diabetes Expo – it may count for IPPE credit. We will be taking BMI, talking about alternative health and OTC weight loss products
XII. Immunizations: no report
XIII. Community Service: expect another email rxpost email. There were enough interested in habitat build day, but need more involvement in teaching at the school. Walter has 5th grade lesson plans to help
XIV. Women’s Health: Radio show will be Wednesday the 11th at 4:30pm
XV. Health and Wellness: assisting with the community service project for schools
XVI. Smoking Cessation: will have information packets to give to employees a Snelling Dining Hall about how to quit smoking
XVII. AIDS committee: currently raising money through competition between the classes for the AIDS walk/run. Friday morning will be selling hot chocolate.
XVIII. ISPF will be planning a benefit concert for malaria nets to send to Africa. Watch for email to set up committee for this event
XIX. Be thinking for designs for t-shirts to sell at the beginning of the next school year.
XX. The event form will soon be posted on the website so that committees can access it from there, fill it out and send to Khalil
XXI. Also, medical consent forms for Pharmfest screenings will be needed.
